Your Host
Dear RAGBRAI Riders and Support Teams,
On behalf of the City of Guthrie Center, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to our community during your journey across Iowa this July. We are truly honored to serve asa host community for RAGBRAI.
Guthrie Center may be a small town, but we take great pride in our hospitality, strong sense of community, and the beautiful countryside that surrounds us. For generations, neighbors here have come together to lend a helping hand, share a smile, and celebrate the simple joys of small-town life. During your visit, we hope you’ll experience that spirit firsthand.
RAGBRAI has long been one of Iowa’s most cherished traditions—bringing people together from across the state, the nation, and the world. The energy, enthusiasm, and camaraderie that riders bring to every host town create memories that last a lifetime, both for participants and for the communities fortunate enough to welcome them.
Our residents, volunteers, and local businesses are excited to greet you with open arms. While you’re here, we invite you to explore our historic downtown, enjoy some local food and entertainment, and take a moment to relax and experience the warm hospitality that makes Guthrie Center special.
Thank you for including Guthrie Center in your incredible journey across Iowa. We wish you safe travels, strong legs, and plenty of tailwinds as you continue your ride.
Welcome to Guthrie Center—we’re glad you’re here!
Sincerely,
Mike Herbert, Mayor
City of Guthrie Center, Iowa

Overnight towns are the heart of RAGBRAI, and they only shine because neighbors step up to volunteer. Whether you’re helping direct riders safely through town, welcoming visitors at information booths, setting up campgrounds, serving food, or pitching in with cleanup, every role makes a real difference. Volunteering is a fun, flexible way to show off your community pride, meet people from all over the country, and be part of an unforgettable Iowa tradition. Even a few hours of your time helps create the warm, welcoming experience riders remember long after they roll out of town.
